Symmetry in Shapes
An object is symmetrical when it can be split in half, and the two sides are the exact same. Symmetry can happen in a number of different ways, but we're going to stick with vertical and horizontal symmetry. Vertical symmetry happens when a vertical line can be drawn down the middle of an object, and the two sides are the exact same. Horizontal symmetry is when an object can be split with a line going from left to right and the top and bottom of the object are the exact same. Below are two pictures showing in a picture what is stated above. For more information on symmtery, click here!

Do you think a shape can have both vertical and horizontal symmetry?
Of course they can! A square is a great example of a shape that has both vertical and horizontal symmetry.
